The Condo/Car Raffle

by Chuck Campbell 4. February 2011 22:27

I have gotten a few requests for info on the raffle so that people can correctly file their taxes.  I would be happy to provide whatever info you want, but from what I have been told, even though the raffle was for charity, unfortunately the purchase of raffle tickets is not deductible.  It's looked upon as the same as buying a lotto ticket.  The foundation's name, however, is the Salisbury Area Chamber Foundation and they are located in Salisbury, Maryland.  If you need any further info, please let me know.  Thank you for your support and God bless.

Hi Chuck. I donated to the "A new lung for Chuck" campaign back when I saw you on the Bonnie Hunt show. I have thought about you and your family often since then. I'm really glad to hear you are hanging in there. It's not an easy road I'm sure and my prayers and thoughts are with you. I hope you get a lung soon and can resume your life with your family. Until then, know you are not forgotten and that you and your courageous fight will always be sketched in my memories.

About the author

I was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2005. Today my lung function is only 14% of full capacity. COPD is a progressive disease that affects the lungs. The condition worsens with time and is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. But, due to the fact that I am in relatively good health, other than the COPD, I am a very good candidate for a lung transplant.  As of Aug. 6, 2010 I am listed on the UNOS double lung transplant waiting list at Inova Hospital in Fairfax, VA.
